Our Services

Our hospital is a full service medical, dental, and surgical facility for pets. Our goal is to provide superior medical care in a compassionate environment. Allendale Veterinary also works closely with a number of veterinary specialists to provide consultations and services should your pet require specialized treatments or procedures.

Wellness Care / Medical Consultations
Your pet will receive a comprehensive physical exam in order to evaluate his/her overall health. We will perform a complete "nose-to-tail" examination as a yearly wellness screen and in times of illness. Pet wellness exams also help your vet determine a proper prevention program, including vaccination schedules tailored specifically for you pet, and parasite control programs.

At times of illness, our doctors are available for consultations in:

  • Internal Medicine
  • Dermatology
  • Cardiology
  • Ophthalmology
  • Neurology
  • Orthopedics
  • Dentistry

Microchip Identification - This unique form of identification is an easy, yet permanent way to bring your pet home quickly should he / she become lost. The microchip is a tiny electronic device, about the size and shape of a grain of rice. It is implanted beneath your pet's skin between the shoulder blades, and stays there for his / her entire life. This procedure is as easy and as painless as a vaccination.

Each microchip has a unique number. This number, along with information about the owner and pet, are added to a national pet registry. Most veterinary hospitals and animal shelters have electronic scanners for detecting and reading these implanted microchips. If a lost pet is found and a microchip is scanned it is easy for you to be contacted.

Nutritional Counseling - Proper diet is an important part of your pet's health. Should your pet need a new diet due to health concerns or you are just looking for a healthy alternative to your current brand, we offer individual consultations and nutritional plans to help keep your pet healthy.

General Surgery
Should your pet require a surgery, our modern suite is equipped to perform a wide variety of procedures. These include , but are not limited to, routine spay and neuter surgeries, biopsy procedures, tumor removals, and exploratory procedures.

Anesthesia
We use the safest available anesthetic agents. State-of-the-art continuous multi-parameter vital sign monitoring provides an extra margin of safety, especially for higher risk patients and older animals. Each patient has his heart rate, body temperature, oxygen saturation, and respiratory pattern monitored continuously during surgery. Anesthetic protocols are always tailored to each individual's needs and health concerns.

Ultrasound and Radiology
On-site X-ray and ultrasound capabilities allow our doctors to quickly access important diagnostic information. Outside internal medicine specialists are available for consultation on an ongoing basis.

Dentistry - Clean teeth and healthy gums are essential to your pet's health. Infections are more common in the mouth because they can go undetected for long periods of time. Our veterinary staff regularly performs oral exams, cleanings and periodontal care as part of our comprehensive health care goals. With our state-of-the-art IM 3 dental suite, we provide your pet with the highest quality, virtually pain-free dental care.

Some Signs of Dental Problems include:

  • Bad breath – one of the first signs of dental disease
  • A yellowish-brown crust of plaque on the teeth near the gum line
  • Red and swollen gums
  • Pain or bleeding when your pet eats or when the mouth or gums are touched
  • Decreased appetite or difficulty eating
  • Loose or missing teeth

Dental problems, if left untreated, can often lead to larger systemic problems in your pet due to oral bacteria entering the blood stream and damaging the kidneys, heart and liver.

Laboratory Our in house lab facilities allow for rapid assessment of more acutely ill patients. In-house lab results are often available in less than 20 minutes. These include blood chemistries, urinalysis, fecal exams, and blood gas/electrolyte evaluation. Other laboratory tests and biopsy / pathology tests are routinely sent to our outside reference laboratory.
